Former Arkansas governor, Mike Huckabee, used the platform of the Republican presidential debate to blast the notion that our military should be dabbling in “social experiment(s)” by allowing transgender individuals to serve.
“The military is not a social experiment,” he explained. “The purpose of the military is kill people and break things. I’m not sure how paying for transgendered surgery for soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines makes our country safer!”
Watch Huckabee’s fiery response below…
Earlier last month, Secretary of Defense Ash Carter announced that the Pentagon will no longer bar transgender people from serving in the armed forces.
Fleshing out his opinion that the “military is not a social experiment,” Huckabee explained that the armed forces have been decimated under President Obama, reduced by 25%.
“The disaster is that we’ve forgotten why we have a military,” he concluded.
