Sounds like the beginning of a joke, right?
Well, stand back, this is no joking matter to this feminist… Diamond Pecjakr made an appointment for a hair cut at high-end Pennsylvania barbershop Barbiere. And when she was denied service at the barbershop that specializes in men’s haircut, she filed a complaint with the state’s Bureau of Professional and Occupational Affairs.
The staff recommended other salons to Pecjakr and even offered to pay for her haircut, but their good intentions meant nothing to the feminist or the state. Owner John Interval was slapped with a $750 fine for gender discrimination.
Interval told CBS Pittsburgh that he didn’t see the logic in the fine but would pay it.
““I didn’t really consider it so much a discrimination thing as – it’s a barbershop… for guys. You know, I’m not opposed to doing women’s hair,” he explained. “Just not in this shop. I don’t even have [the equipment] to do women’s hair. I want to open a shop to cater to them and no men will be allowed there. They’ll have all the champagne and mimosas they want, and that’ll be on the house.”
